Aspen Grove →
As I’ve been thinking about Brett, Mori and their darling girls…well…pretty much nonstop for the last 48 hours….I’ve also been thinking about Aspen Grove. I know that I wasn’t alone in thinking that a week in the mountains at a family camp sounded hoakey and more than a little overwhelming. As that week came to a close though and as I’ve reflected on...

8 months old →
Harrison is 8 months old! I guess this is how he really feels about being 8 months old. Am I a mean mom if I find that sad face absolutely adorable? What a pout that little boy has!

Santa Babies →
Last Christmas Ryan and Daniel wore these Santa outfits, and they were so cute that we couldn’t help but put Harrison and Emma through the same torture. Aren’t they CUTE??? Harrison apparently couldn’t get enough of Emma. Sheesh, can’t a guy hold a girls hand without her putting up a fight? He tried and tried, but Emma’s daddy must have talked with her...

Virginia Fun →
A few more Christmas activities… We took a drive down to D.C. to see the lights on the temple. These pictures are kind of blurry, but they’re all we have. It was very cold, but it was very beautiful. We missed the lights in Salt Lake at Temple Square this year, so we loved getting the change to see them in D.C. Of course we made a gingerbread house, and, if I do say so myself, it...

Backtracking... →
We have to go way back to get updated here. Since we’ve been out of town since mid-December, we haven’t even shared Christmas pictures yet! We spent our Christmas in Virginia with the Wrides and it was wonderful. The house was crazy full, which made it all the more fun. It was Harrison’s first Christmas! Okay, I’m not really sure that he knew the difference between...

Cold January Afternoons →
For Christmas we gave the kids an indoor jumping castle. Living in a big city that gets cold and windy in the winter, and living in an apartment, I knew that the kiddles needed a way to release their energy. Up until today we have been able to go on walks in the afternoons but today was really windy outside, so we got out the jumping castle. The kids jumped for at least an hour. It was great!...

Happy Birthday Jaxson!! →
It is a day late, but I still wanted to tell him Happy Birthday! Each birthday, we re-tell the story of how that child was born. We look at their baby scrapbooks and talk about feelings we had that day. Jaxson knows this story well and loves to hear it. Jaxson is fun loving and VERY smart. He loves to play nintendo, xbox, wii, pretty much anything electronic. He loves to read and is doing very...

Brideshead Revisited →
I have a friend at work who I will occasionally get into deep, soul searching conversations with. She is very bright and interesting and after our conversations are over I find myself searching for a way to put into action the things we’ve talked about. Tonight, we discussed the topic of one of my last posts: living life to it’s fullest. Being anything but ordinary. As we were...

Happy Birthday, Jaxson! →
Today is Jaxson’s (aka, J or Baby J) sixth birthday. If you asked J leading up to today how old he was going to be on this birthday, his response would have been as follows, “I’m going to be six. And then Andrew will be eight. And next year I’ll be seven and Andrew will be nine and then I’m going to move into a house.” The same things that endear J to me...

President Hinckley →
We received the news last night that President Hinckley had passed away when Adam’s grandma from SLC. It has been a time of reflection. President Hinckley has been an amazing prophet and has had much influence in my life. I can recall the first time I saw President Hinckley in person. When he walked into the room, I felt an overwhelming and immediate confirmation of his prophetic calling....

Announcing the arrival of... →
ISAAC TODD JOHNSON That’s right! My nephew was born today at 9:44am. Isaac weighed in at 8 lbs. 15 oz., was a whopping 21 inches in length, and has some blonde hair. Congratulations, Nathan and Jenny! Spencer’s response to hearing of his cousin’s arrival was, “Is he coming to my house today?” Hmm…probably not, since the little fellow is on the other side of the...

What a family of bloggers... →
Recently, my cousin Tona and my sister-in-law Katy have created blogs relating to their respective callings in LDS wards. One has recently been called as a laurel advisor in the Young Women program and the other as a Nursery leader. Here are the blog addresses to check out. Both have FANTASTIC ideas and are worth perusing even if you are not serving in either organization. I’ve gleaned a few...

Entertainment Value →
I’m sad to see Sundance come to a close. I went to the final showing of the final movie last night which was the Dramatic Audience Award winner: The Wackness. This poignant film was right up my alley. I tend to be anxious…about everything. I want to make sure that I live life to it’s fullest and not wake up one day thinking of missed opportunities. I want to be interesting...

Hi from VA! →
January 24 Still working on getting a venue for our March 8th concert. This is a volunteer position that was supposed to have been finished in September. In fact it was finished, until one of the high schools came back and said, “Oh sorry, we changed our mind.” This has left us in such a bind! I have been calling every church and large space in the county. We finally have some pretty...

Thoughts on Thirty →
I have decided to go to institute again as much as I can because the age limit on the class I attend is 30. Luckily, I have a very sweet group of neighbors who are so compassionate. The cute couple that lives below me is very young — the husband just turned 20 and the wife is 21. They have a sweet little baby boy, Gage, who is almost 3 months old. I offered to trade dinner one night a week...

Sundance 2008 →
The last few weeks at work have been wicked. I was anticipating the madness though and when my cousin Emily offered to buy me some Sundance Film Festival tickets I jumped at the chance. She got me tickets to three shows and then her hubbie ended up not being able to go to another show so I’m going to attend that movie with her. A total of 4 indie films over 7 days - should be good! The...

The secret's out... →
I married the most AMAZING man. Just recently, he managed to get a $537 repair done on our computer for FREE (thank you, APPLE). And…the Christmas surprise that I nearly ruined when I unwittingly opened that envelope back in December was…a trip to NYC to see the Rockettes perform in their Christmas Spectacular. And it was just that - SPECTACULAR!!! We drove up to NYC the day after...

Family pix Originally uploaded by ValerieBW Boy, did we have a good ol’ time! Here we are at the end of almost three weeks living in the same house together, and we still like each other! (‘Course, as you can see from the picture, some of us went a little crazy!) There was lots of good food, games, Christmas-ing, and noise :o) Katie, Peter, Leslie and Harrison came from Utah;...

Reading →
Happy New Year everyone! One of my goals for pretty much my entire life has been to read more. I said this at my family’s annual goal setting a few evenings ago and Justin said, “Kristin you read more than anyone I know already! You’re always talking about books that you’re reading.” That made me feel good! Maybe I do read a lot! I have a friend at work who is...
